Dancers aged 16-21 are currently being invited to submit entries to BBC Young Dancer 2017, following the success of the first competition. The categories are: Ballet, Contemporary, Street Dance and South Asian Dance. Applicants are invited to apply by downloading the entry brochure from the BBC Young Dancer website – bbc.co.uk/youngdancer – or by emailing young.dancer@bbc.co.uk for a hard copy.
All finalists will be supported during the following year by Dancers’ Career Development, and the winner will receive £3000 towards their dance education. The Grand Final will be judged by a leading panel of dance experts at Sadler’s Wells in April 2017 and televised on BBC Two. Ahead of this, Finalists will be given the opportunity to attend workshops in March 2017, with renowned dancers and choreographers to create new specially commissioned choreography for this performance.
