SIN Cru’s next bboy Foundation course starts this Thursday, in conjunction with Fly No Filter’s The Glorious Tour.  Its a short five week course suitable for complete beginners to the dance style of bboyin, and for those with gaps in their knowledge who would like to get back to class.  If you haven’t already signed up, or you would like to find out more, holler education@sincru.co.uk

Today’s blog from Fly No Filter is also about beginnings.  When the company arrive in the Bridge for the tour rehearsals, we will first explore Roni’s story and what better way to introduce thirteen year old Roni, than to watch Tim Burton’s 1988 film Beetlejuice.  Please pay particular attention to Winona Ryder’s character Lydia, who’s ‘whole life is a dark room.  One big dark room.’

We are extremely pleased to announce that Fly No Filter will be going on the road with The Glorious Tour this March.  Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Lucy Crowe will be directing the new company line-up, to bring together both RONI and MIA and all the excerpts Fly No Filter have been developing over the last couple of years.  This is a massive achievement that all of us at SIN Cru are very proud of.  Lucy feels that she owes a lot of thanks to a lot of people who have been part of this journey as audience, supporters, collaborators, partners, and muses.  Throughout this leg of the project, she will be using this space to blog about the company’s process and share resources, research and inspiration as we head towards the tour.  We would like to encourage you all to continue to be involved by sharing your comments and posting discussions about the art, and the themes.

Major thanks to Feedspot for awarding us for being one of the top 15 UK hiphop blogs and hiphop lovers websites.  Very proud.  We will be displaying our medal on our virtual mantelpiece.  Props to OG SIN Cru member Disorda for also making the line up with his online one stop UK hiphop shop, Suspect Packages.  Shouts to all the winners. Joli Vyann are looking for a number of performers for different projects, starting from March 2018 going through to 2019. They are looking for performers for a new indoor show, and a new outdoor show.

Performers should have the following skills:

• Contemporary dance (particularly athletic, dynamic, floorwork and contact)
• Hand to hand acrobatics (advanced skills, dynamic and static. Flyers, middle and base roles.)
• General acrobatics is helpful
• Experience on stage and the ability to be creative, take direction and learn choreography with a strong theatrical presence.
• Interest in working indoors, outdoors and working as a team.

Ideal candidates will have a mixture of the above skills. However, if you are highly skilled in one of the disciplines (dance or hand to hand) and are currently working on your skills in the other discipline, please let us know in your application and send a video of your current skill level in both disciplines.

Applications should include CV, letter of motivation and why you are interested in our work and a showreel or video demonstrating your skills.

SIN Cru’s education programmes kick off tomorrow with Bboy Foundation, with the kind support of CSVPA.  Foundation is for everyone and anyone from 7yrs – adult who is either a complete beginner to bboyin, or would like to develop existing skills.

Resolution is the UK’s biggest dance festival for emerging artists, and it is back for its 29th year, welcoming 81 artists who have created original works for The Place stage, London.  This year we have two resolutions for you to check out;

Thursday 18th January – Bricolage Dance UK will be performing Baby Plus Two a new solo which brings to life the physical and psychological experiences of early parenthood with dance, spoken word, video and original music.  Choreographed and directed by Fly No Filter‘s Company Manager, Lise Smith this is a contemporary dance meets Buffalo Stance multi-tasking anti-bacterial delight.  Baby wipes supplied.

Monday 19th February – Elementz Ent. will be closing the night with Perception, hiphop movement through a contemporary mindset. Do you wonder how you are perceived by others? Do they see the front that you portray or the reality beneath the surface?
