Dan Schumann, Director of Viva Youth Arts, the multi award winning musical theatre company in Soham, Cambridgeshire are holding auditions for their next project.  Viva Arts are looking for black actors for their production of Hairspray in March 2018.  Schumann is particularly interested in finding two brilliant black actors to play the key roles: Seaweed – teenage male, and Motormouth – Seaweed’s mother. Bookings are now open for Impington Village College’s Performance School performing arts summer camp for year 5 and 6 students.  It runs from August 7th – 11th with classes in Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Acting, and Jazz.  SIN Cru’s Artistic Director is among the alumni of IVC, and the college continues to lead the way in state education for secondary and beyond, in the arts, especially dance.  SIN Cru spent the summer term in residence at the Performance School experiencing the college’s dedication and passion for the arts first hand.  If you would like more information or to reserve a place on the summer camp, please email performancecamp@impington.cambs.sch.uk.  Fee: £95/ 5 days or £75/ 3 days.

This weekend is the thirteenth MK1 VW Golf owners annual meet.  The event takes place at the Stratford racecourse, Warwickshire, from Friday through to Sunday.  The fancy dress disco is the most committed we have ever experienced, and this year SIN Cru will be reppin two cars in the rally;  Double trouble with Chi Boogie’s first drive out since her debut at Red Lodge go karting when she was about 8yrs old.  Move over Nigel Mansell.  Weekend and day passes are available for this very special gathering.  Remember your marshmallows and guitars.  No wendy houses.

We are very happy to announce that for the third time, our friends Impact Youth have been invited to represent London at U.Dance later this month.  The national youth dance festival will be taking place at the Birmingham Hippodrome, 13th – 16th July which, as we know from previous years of the JNR Sinstars representing, is an amazing opportunity for young people to grow as individuals and as a team.  Impact are taking seven young people and three adults to the festival for the chance for them to meet and connect with fellow companies from around the UK.  To make this happen they are raising funds through their Gofundme campaign, so please support the cause and spread the word.

This July the month is bursting with energy waiting to be harnessed.  Lena Stevens from the Power path.com advises that ‘if you don’t just do what you have been dreaming, discussing, talking about, thinking about, procrastinating, theorising, considering or simply being afraid to act upon, spirit may just throw some action your way to rattle your cage, break apart your stagnation, and get the show on the road.’  We have a few more weeks of SoHHA left, so if you haven’t yet checked the festival out, hit up our blogspot and drop in to one of our Saturday School classes, as Lena recommends you ‘use this month to strengthen your relationship with your body and establish better habits of exercise for your moving centre.’  Click here for Lena’s full article on Mystic Mamma.

 

Wonderful dance artist My Johansson, who joined Fly No Filter for the R&D and Creation processes of The Glorious Tour has spent the past month at Echo Echo Dance Theatre in Derry, Northern Ireland, researching and beginning the creation of her new piece, Now at once.  My has a sharing of the work so far, as well as some upcoming performances of her older pieces, and a new commissioned work for Unga Dansare/Dans i Blekinge, Sweden.  Definately worth a viewing:

This SoHHA Sunday is lead by Dr Michelle Nyangereka to bring a sense of inner peace and conscious awareness for life improvements.  The Dr will introduce mindfulness as a practise not restricted to sitting crossed legged, by suggesting ways we can bring the techniques into our daily lives.  The Mindfulness in Motion workshop is an opportunity to leave the kids at home and spend some time focussing on yourself, your physical sensations and emotions.  For more info head over to the SoHHA festival blog.  To register, or if you have any questions, email: director@sincru.co.uk
