Artsdepot are currently inviting applications from new and established artists and companies for the Autumn Artist Residency Programme, and Room Festival. Last year Room Fest supported Fly No Filter with the development of The Glorious Tour. It was a very valuable experience and Artistic Director, Lucy Crowe definately recommends artists and companies who are making work, to put an application forward to artsdepot for this opportunity. jivamukti inspired and yin saturdays
Start your weekend with some truly uplifting yoga. Every Saturday until the end of July, SoHHA Saturday School’s packed bboy timetable is bookended with two amazing yoga sessions aimed at adults, and suitable for all abilities and levels of experience. At 10.00am, Hayley teaches an hour of Jivamukti yoga, a method which combines dynamic vinyasa flow sequencing, with elevated intention and strong, steady breath to harmonise body, mind and spirit. All classes include intelligent sequencing of postures, eclectic music to inspire, meditation and deep relaxation. At 4.15pm, Kim leads 45 minutes of Yin, a mindful, slow-paced practise where seated and lying postures are held for 3-5 minutes. The physical focus is on the fascia, the joints, and ligaments, with the aim of improving flexibility while working your energy flow, drawing from TCM meridian theory.
No need to pre book, just aim to arrive 10 minutes before the start of class to register. All SoHHA activities are held in the main dance studio at Impington Village College, New Road. Yoga with Hayley is £8 per session, and Yin with Kim is £7 per session. You will leave feeling transformed in body, mind, and energy. Really very fabulous 🙂
calling all youth dancers and emerging artists
Next on the SoHHA schedule is the last of our open days. Tomorrow we open the studio doors to all young bboys and bgirls up to the age of 16, and all emerging artists of 16 and over. After 18 years of running the JNR Sinstars youth crew, we have finally got round to holding an open day 🙂 This is an opportunity for all youth bboys and bgirls to spend a day in training with existing JNR Sinstars to find out all about the JNR Sinstars scheme and how to get involved. The day is also for emerging artists over 16 to experience the kinds of development, support, and challenges which being on the eOTo programme can offer. eOTo also includes the ever popular and successful SIN Cru internships, so if you are looking for a creative placement and have a sustained interest in Hip Hop Arts, be sure to reach tomorrow.

James will also be bringing his knowledge and research to SoHHA, with a special battle masterclass on Sunday 25th June.

may I?
Yes. May has started with some kind of crazy momentum which we feel is going to spiral us happily and productively into summer. SIN Cru returned from a wonderful weekend at The State’s Jam Piece in Edinburgh, where Ris N Peas the JNR Sinstars, and guest bboy Caleb repped the crew battles hard to make it to the final. We then launched direct into Fly No Filter company auditions with a terrific turnout as we cast for the next leg of The Glorious Tour. Back in the Bridge we christened our brand new studio space, thanks to JNR Sinstar alumni Frootloops and splendid support from CSVPA, with final rehearsals for Soopa Noodle‘s solo How to Build a Shelf. Noodle will be performing his excerpt from The Glorious Tour this Saturday at Norwich Theatre Royal as part of Breakin’ Convention. Our Artistic Director Lucy, is about to take to the skies to join SIN Cru associate artist Hakeem in Fuerteventura for Impact Escape, and will bring back the best tan ever and lots of new material and working practises to share with the company and our outreach programmes. If that wasn’t enough, our design house NonSINthetik are working day and night on the marketing for SoHHA and our very special residency at Impington Village College Performing Arts. SoHHA starts on Saturday 20th May with the Pass the Peas teacher training weekender, and runs until Sunday 23rd July with a full programme of Hip Hop activities and complementary arts for everyone. You know how we do. You are welcome 🙂
